16 November public square

16 November Public Square
The 16 November public square is located in the center of the Guéliz district in Marrakech. It is neglected with destroyed pergolas, an abandoned bike station, and a lack of greenery and shaded amenities.
The square serves as the convergence point for various elements. Besides its location near a crossroads, where two distinct routes meet, it brings together a diversity of users of all ages and backgrounds, whether they are local or foreign. Additionally, it signifies a transitional phase between two crucial epochs in the history of Marrakech, bridging the ancient Medina to the emergence of the new city.
The concept of this project is designing a space that promotes connectivity, interaction, and expression by imbuing it with an artistic purpose, considering art as a universal language, and incorporating circular forms as symbols of unity and connectivity.

The square is designed with a plan dominated by circular forms, reflecting unity, balance, and connectivity within the community. Members gather in circles to share ideas or celebrate moments, reminiscent of gatherings like in the case of the traditionnal Helqa of Marrakech.
